Honest expectations

Most pink eye is viral or allergic and doesn't need antibiotics — your clinician will tell you which kind you likely have and treat accordingly. Styes usually respond to warm compresses; drops or ointment are prescribed when appropriate. What always gets referred in person: eye pain (not just irritation), vision changes, light sensitivity, or anything involving contact-lens-related infection risk.
